Top Sights and Frights for Halloween 2022 in HW

It’s the spookiest time of the year, and while our theme park neighbors have decades of Halloween celebration experience, Horizon Westers are getting into the game by creating traditions, hosting events, building haunted home displays and much more!

Here’s a look at some of the top Halloween experiences in Horizon West for Halloween 2022!

The Reaping – Harvest of the Hallow’d Souls Haunted House

Horizon West resident Jeremy Kent calls himself a “local home haunter.” He’s created a professional grade, walk-through maze of horrors inside his garage. With around 400 sq ft of space, Jeremy has created a dark and twisted maze with more than 10 scenes filled with smells, sounds, textured floors, props, animatronics and even real, live scare actors!

Jeremy started conception work last December for this project, which he creates, funds, and builds all on his own. But it’s not his first! Jeremy’s first haunted house was created when he was just 15 and living in Ohio. His lifelong long of Halloween has taken him on a journey from that first house to big Halloween parties to home haunts. He’s shared his Summerlake home haunt with the community for three years now!

WARNING -- THE VIDEO BELOW CONTAINS SCENES INCLUDING BLOOD AND GORY IMAGES

Jeremy says The Reaping attraction is his favorite and darkest yet! It comes complete with an elaborate backstory:

"A depression era farm lies gutted on the outskirts of the small, tormented town of Winter Garden where over the last 7 years, it has been plagued by the utmost gruesome horrors. This year, the demonic pages from the "Naturom Demonto" come to life to tell the tale of Sebastian & Anita Corcoran and how the inheritance of his late grandfather's cottage, lead to the most heinous harvest this town has ever seen!"

And that’s just the start of it! Read the full story and learn more about the attraction on The Reaping Souls website. You can also visit The Reaping on Facebook or Instagram.

ADDRESS: 7914 Winter Wren St. in the Summerlake community, off Summerlake Park Blvd. Entry is via the back alley.

WHEN: 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 31 (including Monday, Oct 31)

Horizon West Golf Cart Club’s Second Annual Halloween Parade

In 2021, residents Jack Oakes and David Spinabella helped unite golf cart enthusiasts in Horizon West by creating Horizon West Golf Cart Club. Among their group activities was a Halloween parade where residents dressed up, decorated their carts and toured through several neighborhoods, putting on a fun show for their neighbors and friends.

Back for 2022, the group was even bigger with nearly 50 carts participating on October 21st! Carts adorned with elaborate decorations and LED lights cruised the streets of Watermark, Innovation at Panther Lake, Summerlake and Overlook while tossing out tons of candy and thrilling spectators along the way. Jack Skellington and Sally even made a special appearance!

Congrats to the winners of the "Best Decorated Cart" prize, the Vargas Family!

Neighborhood Festivals, Trunk-o-Treats & More

Several of Horizon West’s HOA subdivisions held Halloween festivals and activities for their residents. Independence Fall Festival entertained thousands of resident families with food trucks, kids activities, a DJ and more!

Local schools and churches offered Trunk-or-Treat activities for kids and kids at heart. Windermere High's PTSO photos are below, but there are too many to list!
