In honor of National Ice Cream Month, we decided we should visit some of the coolest ice cream shops in town! Follow along as we introduce you to unique flavors, rich histories and even vegan options.

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream…The Old Fashioned Way

Our first stop along the way was at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Windermere Village in the Village of Bridgewater. Bruster’s signature ice ream is made the old-fashioned way. Ingredients are slow kettle processed with special mixes, all their own to create their unique flavors and recipes. They receive dairy straight from their own farms right to the store where they batch out artisan style portions of ice creams, yogurts, ices and sorbets. Each employee must be certified as an Ice Cream Maker! The friendly staff at the Horizon West location even offers free doggy ice cream every day of the week.

Scoops N Smiles….The Sweetest Little Shop

This sweet little shop was a welcome addition to The Village of Bridgewater. Situated next to Keene’s Crossing Elementary in Central Parc, it’s the perfect place to pop in for an after-dinner ice cream cone.

All recipes at Scoops N Smiles are made with Hershey’s ingredients; rich, creamy and taste-tested. Confectionary style treats range from traditional ice cream options, to cakes and cookies, and even coffee; making this an ideal stop for grown ups as well. Nothing beats coffee and ice cream! Make it a family event and walk over to the park next door while you enjoy your sugary treats. We love this shop for its family-friendly atmosphere, convenient walkable location and delicious array of options. Make sure to try the waffles with ice cream when you visit! Humbl….Life Well Fed

Dairy ice-cream isn’t for everyone and it can be hard to find the perfect solution if you adhere to a dairy-free diet. Well, we found it for you! Humbl features 100% vegan ice cream, including two flavors of soft-serve. Their creative concoctions are the work of celebrity chef, Matthew Kenney- an LA Based culinary leader in the plant-based food movement. Their passion is to bring familiar favorites to the table in the form of healthy alternatives.

Something that sets Humbl apart from the pack is their 1 for 1 mission. Every purchase provides a meal for a child in need through partnerships with Kids Around The World and Second Harvest Food Bank. That means you can feel good about what you’re eating and be part of a greater cause, just by having an ice cream cone. This one-of-a-kind restaurant aims to feed 70,000 children per location EACH YEAR. Now that’s a cause we can get behind! Abbott’s Frozen Custard…A Scoop With A Story

Located in the heart of Horizon West - the town center of Hamlin, Abbott’s comes to you all the way from Rochester, NY where its roots run deep. The original Abbott’s was founded in 1926, by Arthur Abbott. After years of taking his secret recipe on tour through state carnivals and various events, he decided to settle down and open up shop. And so the infamous Abbott’s in Rochester became a local legend with hundreds of people lining up to sample a scoop of custard.

Abbott’s eventually expanded to over 40 locations but continues to feature the time-tested recipes that people know and love. The owners of our Abbott’s are Horizon West locals whose dream was to bring this rich history with them when they relocated to Florida.
