Waterleigh Park Groundbreaking Set for Nov. 16 in Horizon West
Orange County Officials Invite Residents to Celebrate the Start of Construction on a New Neighborhood Park
Horizon West residents will soon see progress on another community recreation space as Orange County prepares to break ground on Waterleigh Park (North).
Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson will lead a groundbreaking ceremony Monday, Nov. 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. Community members are invited to attend and celebrate the milestone.
The future 5-acre park will be located west of the intersection of Atwater Bay Drive and Lost Creek Drive in the Waterleigh community.
The parks amenities include:
- Inclusive playground (ages 2-12 years)
- Picnic pavilion
- Picnic tables and benches scattered throughout the park
- Walking path
- Full basketball court
- Multi-purpose open space
- Shade trees, water fountain and bike rack
The park's design was shaped in part by community input, including an online survey that received 519 responses.
Residents identified basketball courts, shade trees, walking paths, picnic areas and playgrounds among their top priorities.
Once completed, Waterleigh Park will provide another place for Horizon West families and neighbors to gather, play and enjoy the outdoors. The groundbreaking marks an important step toward bringing the long-planned park to life.
