Summer BreakSpot Offers No-Cost Meals to HW's Kids and Teens

Free Meals with No Strings or Paperwork Attached

School’s out, but mealtime doesn’t have to be a scramble this summer. For families with kids in K–12, Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) together with the Florida Department of Agriculture have a stress-free solution.

It’s no secret that routines, daily social connection and access to meals can look a lot different without the structure of school. That’s where Summer BreakSpot comes in. This free program is designed to ease those stressors by making sure no child or teen goes without well-balanced, wholesome meals during summer break.

With the program now in full swing, this summer marks the 10th year of the nationwide program, and it’s an important milestone. But rather than celebrate with fanfare, Summer BreakSpot is doing what it always has: humbly serving free meals to kids and teens all summer long.

Did We Mention it's Free?

That’s right! These healthy and balanced meals are available for anyone up to 18 years old with no strings or cost attached. You can thank our “National Summer Food Service Program,” funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

No signup is required, regardless of schooling status, so parents and students can rest easy. Whether your child is enrolled at a public school, private school, homeschool, or in virtual programs such as FLVS, there is no discrimination or restriction, meaning all are welcome to participate in this service.

Each location has specific days and times for each meal period. These range from breakfast to lunch and even PM snacks. So, tell your friends, family and neighbors, and meet up at the coolest spot for kids this summer!

All the Connection, None of the Homework

Sometimes summer can be lonely for kids. In addition to healthy meals, Summer BreakSpot also creates a safe space for kids to catch up with old friends and make new ones. This gives them a chance to interact and unplug, making it the perfect spot for a quick drop off or to swing by when you’re on the go.
