Terri Hatfield-Dull is Passionate About Helping You Find the Right Home Loan in Horizon West!

Horizon West Happenings • January 12, 2021

Relentless drive and passion for people make her a pillar of the community.

Horizon West is home to one of the biggest hearts in Central Florida. Whether she's organizing a holiday cookie exchange in her neighborhood or volunteering countless hours to build the Rotary Club of Horizon West from the ground up, Terri's heart for service is contagious.

Professionally she's a force to be reckoned with as a top producing loan originator with Certified Mortgage Planners where she embraces her entrepreneurial spirit and natural leadership skills to educate and empower first time home buyers. Terri moved to Central Florida to attend UCF where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She isn't afraid to do the hard work and puts forward excellence in every role she fills.

It is Terri's relentless drive and passion to serve that has made her a pillar of the community and earned her a place in the Who's Who of Horizon West for the 2020 calendar year.

Now it's time to meet Terri!

What brought you into the mortgage industry?

I am most passionate about helping people. Before my career as a loan originator, I was a schoolteacher! I found that teaching and informing people of all ages was something I was driven to do and found immense value in.

An opportunity arose for me to expand on my natural desire to teach and I found that helping people and their families achieve their dream of owning a home fulfilled me. I’ve been doing it ever since and every year is better than the last!

Tell us about your role as a loan originator.

I have been in my current position for about 4  years and the mortgage industry for about 8 years in total. In just the last year, my team has funded over $56 million in mortgage transactions!

My team has achieved amazing success for our clients. I work hard to create growth through thoughtful relationships with realtors, financial advisors and other professionals, who also have a genuine passion for serving others.  I work hard to meet my own personal high standards through extensive continued training and believe that being knowledgeable gives me the ability to do what’s best for my clients in any situation.

I have detailed product knowledge and experience in purchases as well as refinances. These loan types include Conventional, FHA, VA and USDA loans, as well as many non-conforming portfolio options.

What are you most passionate about in your field?

Growing up, my Dad was a landlord. Managing multiple properties was a major part of his retirement plan. He would buy properties, rent them out and after 30 years, the houses would be paid off and he would still make an income through the rent.

My dad’s work helped me learn early on that you can either pay the mortgage on a home for your own retirement and personal wealth, or you can pay the mortgage for a landlord’s retirement and personal wealth. It feels really good to help families purchase their own home and build a future for themselves instead of for someone else. When you really understand how much money is spent on rent in just 10 years- let alone 30- you see how important and life-changing property ownership can be.

That is my why!

You have a true heart for service, what inspires you?

This year has been challenging for so many people. Professionally, it’s difficult for me to see so many people furloughed or laid off and know that their goals have been delayed.

Horizon West is home to countless people in the hospitality and entertainment industry because of our proximity to Disney World, so many of the people who are affected are right here in my community. It’s heartbreaking.

One of the many reasons I am passionate about my work is because I believe that investing ourselves can truly make a difference in the lives of others.

Why do you serve Horizon West?

Well, this is an easy one. I live here! I’ve been a resident of Village F in the Waterleigh community for 5 years. Before that, I’ve lived, worked and played in Horizon West for the last 10 years.

I’m personally invested in this community, my neighbors and the small business owners who bring culture and vitality to our doorstep by providing us with the things we want and need.

What is something about you that people might not know?

I am one of 9 proud founding members of the Rotary Club of Horizon West and have been serving as President Elect since our launch in July 2019. I will begin my term as president in July of 2021.

I’m also a member of the Horizon West Professionals networking group that helps build and support small business success here in our community. I attend a local BNI networking group and am a member of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce.

Like many of my  neighbors here in Horizon West, I’m a transplant. I grew up in the Midwest. I am passionate about bringing those Midwestern values along with me here to my own community.

If you are considering purchasing a home in Horizon West, Terri is who you want on your team. She will work with you every step of the way and her proven track record of professional excellence speaks for itself.

Her warm and friendly demeanor make her a joy to work with and her passion and heart for service mean she will stand by you through your entire journey to home ownership!
