The Only Spot in Central Florida Serving This Wild Limited-Edition Ice Cream
Think Pumpkin Spice, but Chili — Available for a Short Time at Horizon West Area Skyline Chili Location

Skyline Chili is a Cincinnati tradition that borders on obsession. You can buy it by the bowl, but loyal fans often order it over spaghetti mounded with shredded cheddar or ladled over a hot dog.
What makes Skyline Chili distinctive is the spices. Inspired by his Greek and Macedonian ancestry, founder Nicholas Lambrinides created a meat sauce spiked with cinnamon, allspice, cloves and more … we think. After more than 75 years, the exact recipe is still a secret.
For a limited time, Skyline Chili has teamed up with another Ohio tradition, Graeter’s Ice Cream, and added those sweet spices to a frozen mash-up. Don’t worry, there’s no chili powder, onion or ground beef in Graeter’s Skyline Spice French Pot Ice Cream.
To try this frozen treat in Horizon West, and around Central Florida, the only place is the Skyline Chili restaurant in Flamingo Crossings.
From Cincinnati to Central Florida: A Dream Come True
Franchise owner and Horizon West resident Daniel Hunsucker grew up in the Cincinnati area and, two years ago, fulfilled his dream to open a Skyline Chili in Central Florida. “In high school, I used to go five days a week. I eat a Cheese Coney (hot dog) every single day of my life.”
Daniel was understandably skeptical when he heard about Graeter’s Skyline Spice Ice Cream. Chili and ice cream don’t exactly sound like a natural pairing. “That’s what I first thought until I actually tried it and said, ‘Oh, they pulled this off!’ I would describe our chili as those warm, fall flavors. It’s still those warm, fall flavors, but ice cream.”
What Does Chili-Inspired Ice Cream Taste Like?
So, a quick review… What hits you with the first spoonful is the allspice. It’s a bit like pumpkin spice, but more of a spiced chai latte flavor.
If you’re unfamiliar with Skyline Chili, it's the cinnamon and cloves that give it a Christmassy, gingerbread vibe. If you do know Skyline, the influence jumps right out at you. There’s also a crunchy kick from mixed-in oyster crackers, the traditional accompaniment to Skyline Chili. They’re coated in just enough glaze to keep the crackers crisp while also adding a pop of savory and salt.
The Flamingo Crossings Skyline Chili location sells five-ounce tubs of Graeter’s Skyline Spice Ice Cream for $11.70 (after tax) from a freezer also stocked with other Graeter’s flavors as well. One of the classic flavors, Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, is available too!
“Guests swear by putting our hot sauce on Graeter’s Skyline Spice ice cream,” says Daniel. “I have yet to try it, but I’ve had many people tell me it really works.”
Graeter’s Skyline Spice Ice Cream is a limited-time item, so while Daniel has the freezer stocked with enough to take him through Thanksgiving, he’s not sure if it will be available through Christmas. If you’re curious — or got a craving — grab some while you can!
