New Small-Format Target Makes a Big Impact

November 17, 2021

Target Now Open at Flamingo Crossings to Serve HW area and More!

Residents in Horizon West villages of Hickory Nut (H) and Ovation (I) have a new shopping option close to home! Just outside the border of Ovation off Western Way, lies Disney’s 200,000-square-foot, up-and-coming shopping, dining, and retail plaza —Flamingo Crossings —where a new Target has just opened.

This Target is one of the brand’s “small-format” stores, making it significantly smaller than a regular full-sized store. Shoppers will still find everything they would expect to find at Target, just a smaller assortment or products. Categories at Flamingo Crossings include Apparel, Baby, Health, Grocery, Household Essentials, Tech, Personal Care, Health and Beauty, Seasonal, and more.

Store Director Jackie Sovern has been working with Target in the Orlando area for a few years. She commented, “It was a really great experience to open a new store and build everything from the ground up. We are really proud of our offerings here and hope to become that one-stop-shop for the area.”

The company conducted research to understand the surrounding community and its needs, including Disney’s College Program, for which housing is being constructed nearby, tourists and nearby residences. Learning the area's needs is critical because the smaller store footprint requires Target to be extra efficient when planning how to fill the shelves.

In this store, shoppers will find a heavy focus on grocery, with a large portion of the store dedicated to fresh produce, meats, seafood, deli, and bakery. Frozens, snacks and beverages abound as well. Other large departments include personal care and health and beauty.

Sovern pointed out that in addition to the departments already mentioned, there’s a full CVS pharmacy and a large selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Convenient non-contact shopping options like Drive up and Order pickup are also available for both retail items and grocery.

Over 20 of Flamingo Crossings’ proposed tenants have been announced to-date, but as of this writing only two are currently open — Walgreens, which opened mid-September, and now Target, which celebrated it’s official grand opening on November 14, 2021.

The store is open 8AM - 10PM daily, and they are currently hiring seasonal Team Members. Visit Target at 204 Ruby Red Place in Flamingo Crossings.
